SUNGJA - HAPKI Program

Dr. George Petrotta
Welcome to the ISA Martial Arts Sungja-Hapki page! It is our goal to provide an additional program to supplement our traditional Hapkido training. This program is designed to cover two popular areas - pressure points and Hapki based combatives. This program is an intensive style course and classes are held on a Seminar basis initially. Each section will be worked independently. The first part of the seminar will focus on Hapki and after a short break we will work pressure points. Below you will see a detailed explanation of each specific section. We encourage you to join us for a fantastic training opportunity! Feel free to contact us at any time for more information!
Sungja-Do

Sungja-Do can be described as the art of striking the vital points of the human body for the purpose of neutralizing an attacker (regardless of size or strength), with effects ranging from pain or unconsciousness to death - the level of severity obviously depends on the seriousness of the situation.
Sungja is also described as the art of pressure point fighting. Within the first ten seconds of a physical conflict the fight should be won or lost. Sungja is the understanding of weaker structures of the human body and how to access them to your advantage for physical confrontation or relief from common ailments.
Regardless of official definition, Sungja-Do is an effective series and methodologies of using pressure points as tools of defense. It is not based on enormous strength or speed, but rather knowledge. Knowledge of the points and where they are as well as how to use them.

We are privileged to be associated with International Sungjado Association. Through their blessing we have established this Sungja study group. ISA,TM was formed by Dr. Petrotta to spread the use of pressure points for martial and healing applications. The curriculum is based on proper use of points regardless of Martial Arts style. Even those without a Martial Arts background can learn through the curriculum. The curriculum places a high value for the safety of the practitioners. To honor our commitment to the ISA and their commitment to use, we require all participants in this program to be members of the ISA. A membership link is provided HERE!

HapkidoAiki Combatives

Hapki based combat is a program designed by Dr. Petrotta to teach students the fundamentals of combat. This program is based very heavily on Dr. Petrotta's 47+ years in  martial arts training programs. This is a traditional Hapkido classic art as taught by the Founder of Hapkido, Choi, Yong Sul and the World KIDO Federation under Grandmaster Seo, In Sun. The core principle of this course is Close Quarters Hapkido. We do not teach point sparring or any other sport applications. We simply teach immediate threat control. This is an intensive course and as with the Sungja, will only be taught in a seminar format. This program is perfect for the person who wishes to supplement their martial arts training or any person who wishes to develop exceptional personal protection skills. We have provided a sample of the curriculum that we will be following. Contact the ISA for a specific schedule of what will be taught and when.

Close Quarter Combat
Advanced nontraditional striking techniques
Plus much more!
